My teaching style
My lessons are student-centered. I teach in a variety of styles, incorporating different learning methods. My goal is to create life-long musicians. When first starting lessons, I try to foster the student’s goals. The curriculum is based how the student learns combined with my years of experience studying flute pedagogy and repertoire.
I try to provide multiple opportunities for learning inside and outside lessons. I encourage my students to play in small ensembles, attend regional conventions, and perform in flute studio recitals.
About the curriculum
I incorporate standard and new learning methods. I teach according to the style the student wishes to learn–classical, jazz, or even popular styles. Every lesson we establish small goals in a structured manner to ensure success.
My studio is located close to University of North Carolina at Wilmington. The location is convenient to most locations within ILM.
